Letter from the Progress Leaders

9th June 2017

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are writing to inform you of some changes to Testwood School from September 2017.

The first change will be the progress Leader’s responsible for leading each Year group. Mr Murphy, Assistant Headteacher, will take responsibility for Year 9. Mr Murphy also has responsibility for Attendance and Behaviour across all 5 year groups. Mr Jenkins will continue leading the pastoral care for Years 7 and 8 and Mr Ward will continue working with the current year 9 and 10 cohorts moving into year 10 and 11 respectively. From Monday 12 June all matters related to current Year 8 which require Progress Leader intervention will revert to Mr Murphy.

Communication in the first instance will still be through your child’s tutor as normal.

The second change relates to increased numbers of students choosing to start their educational journey here in Year 7. We must make changes to the tutor group teams in year 9 and year 11 in order for all year groups to be staffed equally in regards to student and staff ratios.

The current 8BL, 10BL and 10EG tutor groups will be dispersed across each of the respective year groups to create equally sized tutor groups, with adequate numbers to enable the excellent pastoral care we provide to continue. We are extremely proud of this strand of our provision and these small changes will have no impact on our approach to the well-being of all of our students. A separate letter will follow to parents affected in those tutor groups shortly.

We hope that this letter clarifies matters but please do not hesitate to contact us in the event of any concerns.

Yours sincerely,

Mr D. Murphy – Assistant Head/ Mr P. Ward – Progress Leader Mr C. Jenkins – Progress
